Firefighters Protected Mongolia

Ms Altangerel Radnaabazar is the Project Officer for MERIT (Enhancing Resource Management through Institutional Transformation) and a recipient of the Australia Awards Women’s Leadership Program (WLP) Award. After hearing their project pitch ‘Firefighters Protected’ at the WLP program event organised by Zorig foundation , Mr John Langtry (the Australian Ambassador to Mongolia at that time) recommended they contact Oyu Tolgoi LLC. ‘Firefighters Protected’ is an initiative which aims to reduce wildfire related injuries and death through education and providing protective clothing to firefighters.

The high-level introductions and recommendations by Mr John Langtry with Oyu Tolgoi enabled them to receive additional project funding. As a result, uniforms were delivered directly to the firefighters and a successful education safety campaign was disseminated.
